Currently, a master's degree is the minimum requirement for physician assistants to practice. Most physician assistant programs require that you hold a bachelor's degree before matriculation into the program and have extensive clinical healthcare experience. The general application requirements are required by most schools:

  • Prerequisite courses finished
  • GRE/MCAT Test scores
  • Clinical experience
  • Recommendation letters
  • Personal statement
  • Resume
  • **NOTE that many schools require applications are to be submitted through the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA). Schools may require that your CASPA application is VERIFIED by the application service by the deadline, which can take up to 4 weeks after all documents have been submitted. There are fees starting at $175 attached to the CASPA application to keep in mind. The price increases depending on the number of schools you apply to using the service.
