James Andrews, Ph.D., Director of the School of Information, jimandrews@usf.edu
Dr. James Andrews is the Director of the School of Information and Co-Director of the Institute for Health Science Information. His research and teaching focus on Health Informatics, with particular emphasis on health information behaviors, health communication, and clinical research informatics. Dr. Andrews received his Doctor of Philosophy in Information Science in 2000 from the University of Missouri--Columbia, where he also earned a Master’s in Library and Information Science. Dr. Andrews’ doctoral work was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Library of Medicine (NLM) as a Pre-doctoral Medical Informatics Fellow in the University of Missouri’s School of Medicine, Medical Informatics Training Program. He began his academic career in the School of Library and Information Science, University of Kentucky, where he also collaborated with various healthcare professionals and researchers and served on the Communication Graduate Faculty. Dr. Andrews joined USF in 2004, and became Director of SI in 2009. He is active in the Medical Library Association, American Medical Informatics Association, and the American Society for Information Science and Technology.
